Attending your first LGBT Outreach support group meeting can feel both exciting and nerve-wracking. While each group may have its own structure and format, you can generally expect a welcoming and inclusive environment where people gather to share experiences, offer support, and listen to one another. Meetings may begin with introductions, followed by group discussions or activities led by a facilitator. You are not obligated to share your story at your first meeting, and it’s perfectly okay to listen and observe until you feel comfortable participating. Remember, everyone is there to support and learn from each other, so be open to the experience and respect others’ confidentiality and boundaries.
